Joshua Roy was unable to convince the Canadiens to keep him up, and following tonight’s game in Toronto, the Canadiens announced that 24 players would be heading to Laval. As for Vinzenz Rohrer, he’s heading back to Europe, so you’ll understand that Roy is one of the guys cut.

Despite a big summer of practice, Roy wasn’t able to stand out at camp. History seems to be repeating itself in the case of the Québécois forward, and now more than ever, we’re wondering if his future lies elsewhere. It’s worth noting that prospects like Florian Xhekaj, Oliver Kapanen and Owen Beck are still up there right now. That Xhekaj is still there speaks volumes about his camp. content-ads]
#Habs make their first big cuts but Florian Xhekaj remains among the 34 players still with the big club at training camp

Jacob Fowler has also been cut, but that’s no surprise. Jakub Dobes should be the club’s #2 goalie, but Kaapo Kahkonen is the guy fighting for a spot, and it makes sense to see guys get cut before the Canadiens head to Quebec City. Going on the road with too many guys isn’t ideal. Details to come…
