The team also announced that netminder Pheonix Copley has been loaned to their AHL affiliate, the Ontario Reign.
Kuemper has been out of the lineup since Dec. 15 after he was run into by Dallas Stars’ forward Mikko Rantanen. He was forced to leave the game and did not return. The next day, the Kings announced that he was placed on IR.
Through 23 games this season, Kuemper is 10-6-6 with a .917 save percentage (SV%), two shutouts and a goals saved above expected rate of 16, which ranks seventh in the league.
Now in his 14th NHL season, Kuemper, a native of Saskatoon, Sask., is 219-152-59 with a .915 SV% and 38 shutouts in 462 career regular-season games with the Kings, Washington Capitals, Colorado Avalanche, Arizona Coyotes and Minnesota Wild.
He’s also played in 40 career playoff games, posting a 19-14 record with a .904 SV%. He was part of the Avalanche’s 2022 Stanley Cup championship.
Kuemper, a sixth-round pick for the Wild in 2009, spent parts of six seasons in the AHL. In 67 career regular-season games, he posted a 30-29-4 mark with a .925 SV%. In junior, the 6-foot-5 netminder spent three seasons in the WHL with the Red Deer Rebels, where he went 94-60-17 with a .914 SV%.
The Kings are 16-13-9 with 41 points in 2025-26, fourth in the Pacific Division and seventh in the Western Conference. Going into Tuesday night’s games, Los Angeles sits in the No. 1 wild-card spot in the West.
