Kings sign Samuel Bolduc to one-year, two-way contract
James Guillory-USA TODAY Sports

According to PuckPedia, the Los Angeles Kings have agreed to terms on a one-year-two-way contract with defenseman Samuel Bolduc.

Bolduc will reportedly be compensated with a $775,000 salary at the NHL level and will make $250,000 while in the AHL with a guaranteed minimum for the year of $275,000.

The No. 57 overall pick by the New York Islanders in the second round of the 2019 NHL entry draft, Bolduc played his junior hockey in the QMJHL with Blainville-Boisbriand and Sherbrooke.

He turned pro in the 2020-2021 season, and quickly made his presence felt with the then-Bridgeport Sound Tigers, posting 14 points in 24 games in his first taste of AHL action.

His production took a step back in 2021-2022, but in 2022-2023, he racked up 35 points in 56 games with Bridgeport and made his NHL debut, scoring two goals in 17 games played with the Isles.

He suited up for 34 games in 2023-2024, putting up five points and posting a minus-4 rating. He got in just one NHL game this past season.

Bolduc will be positioned to provide quality depth for the team’s AHL affiliate Ontario Reign, and based on his past track record, he could be called upon for NHL duty if necessary.

The Kings currently have eight defensemen signed to NHL contracts for the upcoming season, including notable July 1 free agent signings like veterans Cody Ceci and Brian Dumoulin.

They’ll join the established group comprised of Drew Doughty, Mikey Anderson, Kyle Burroughs, Brandt Clarke and Jacob Moverare.

Along with Bolduc, the organization’s non-roster defensemen include Otto Salin, Jakub Dvorak, Joe Hicketts and Kirill Kirsanov.

The Reign finished the 2024-2025 campaign with a record of 43-25-3-1. The team was coached by Marco Sturm, who left the organization earlier this offseason to accept the Boston Bruins‘ head coaching job.
