The Seattle Kraken have missed the postseason in three of the four years that they have been a franchise. This includes last season, and the team has been looking to avoid it happening again.
Seattle's front office has made building out the roster a priority, and it has seen the team looking around the market. The Kraken could use an upgrade at the forward position, and it could see them get into trade talks for a star.
NHL insider Elliotte Friedman mentioned Seattle as a potential suitor for St. Louis Blues forward Jordan Kyrou. This was on a recent episode of the 32 Thoughts: The Podcast.
There have been plenty of rumors about the Blues looking to move Kyrou this offseason, and Seattle should look to take advantage.
"You heard Doug Armstrong say that if there's a center available, that he would consider (trading Kyrou.) I'll say this. One of the teams I wonder about for Kyrou is Seattle. And I don't know if it's over because it happened at the draft, but Seattle has a lot of centers, and that's the kind of player I can see Seattle being interested in... I think there was some talk about it before the draft and, I don't know if it's still alive, but that was something else I heard about," Friedman said.
The Kraken have been busy this offseason so far, landing Mason Marchment from the Dallas Stars. But adding a player like Kyrou could change everything for this team.
Seattle is in desperate need of a star [layer, and the Blues forward could be the missing piece. The Kraken want to be competitive this next season, so a trade like this could be the answer.
Last season, Kyrou scored 36 goals and 34 assists for the Blues. His presence within the top six for the Kraken could do wonders, but whether or not St. Louis seriously considers a trade remains up in the air.
