LA Kings Prospect Update – Week 10/6

Hockey is in full swing, and with that, our weekly LA Kings prospect update here at Hockey Royalty returns. Whether you are new to this or not, let’s have a memory refresher of how this works.

Each week, there will be a weekly prospect update of every prospect’s stats for the week, with one player highlighting the weekly update. The list will not include AHL players on two-way contracts with over five years of NHL experience or who aren’t considered prospects (i.e., Akil Thomas, Glenn Gawdin, Cole Guttman, Taylor Ward, Samuel Bolduc, and Joe Hicketts).

The player who highlighted this week’s prospect update is Henry Brzustewicz. Brzustewicz, drafted in the first round of this most recent draft by the Kings, tallied three goals and 17 shots on goal in two games for the OHL London Knights. The 18-year-old defenseman recorded two goals and 10(!) shots on goal in one of those games.

LA’s number-one-ranked defensive prospect, in my personal rankings, has five points (3 G, 2 A) in six games in the OHL. He has seen time on the power play, penalty kill, and has partnered with fellow Kings prospect, Jared Woolley, on London’s top defensive pair.

Here is how the rest of the prospects in the pipeline fared during the week:

Overseas players:

  • Vojtěch Čihař: 0 G, 0 A, 0 Pts, +/- 0, 4 SOG in two games played
  • Petteri Rimpinen: 6 GA, 40 saves on 46 shots faced (.870 sv%) in two games played

NCAA players:

  • Ryan Conmy: 1 G, 0 A, 1 Pt, +/- 0, 10 SOG in two games played

OHL players:

  • Jimmy Lombardi: 0 G, 3 A, 3 Pts, +4, 7 SOG in two games played
  • Jan Chovan: 1 G, 0 A, 1 Pt, -2, 6 SOG in three games played
  • Jared Woolley: 0 G, 1 A, 1 Pt, +/- 0, 1 SOG in two games played
  • Carter George: Did not play (served as Owen Sound’s backup in the one game scheduled for the week)

WHL players:

  • Will Sharpe: 0 G, 2 A, 2 Pts, -4, 7 SOG in three games played

AHL players:

  • Francesco Pinelli: 1 G, 1 A, 2 Pts, +1, 2 SOG in two games played
  • Aatu Jamsen: 1 G, 0 A, 1 Pt, +1, 4 SOG in two games played
  • Andre Lee: 1 G, 1 A, 2 Pts, -1, 3 SOG in two games played
  • Jakub Dvořák: 0 G, 0 A, 0 Pts, +1, 0 SOG in two games played
  • Erik Portillo: 7 GA, 41 saves on 48 shots faced (also recorded an assist) in two games played
