A week has passed, and it’s time for another LA Kings prospect update. A goalie prospect highlighted last week’s update and it’ll be the same this week — but this time there are two! Hampton Slukynsky and Carter George highlighted this week’s prospect update with spectacular performances at the U-20 World Juniors tournament.

Slukynsky, representing Team USA, appeared in one game and made 25 saves on 26 shots (.962 sv%) in the U.S.’s 5-1 win over Latvia. The score may indicate it wasn’t close, but Slukynsky had to make a few solid saves in the second period as Latvia had three grade-A chances.

George has been a brick wall in the net for Team Canada. He made 31 saves, including 20 in the third, in Canada’s 4-0 win over Finland on the tournament’s opening day. The 18-year-old netminder followed that up with another shutout on a 25-save performance against Germany on Sunday and recorded an assist on Canada’s empty-net goal two minutes after he attempted a goalie goal.

George has faced 56 shots combined in two games and has stopped all of them. Canada has been criticized for some of their roster and usage decisions among their skating group in addition to their five-on-five scoring issues the last two games, but George has been a bright spot for them. His two shutouts and 1.000 sv% lead the tournament and was named Player of the Game in both of his wins.

It is possible that Slukynsky and George could be the goalie matchup for the USA vs Canada game on New Year’s Eve. Wouldn’t it be awesome to see if you’re a Kings fan?
