LA Kings Prospect Update – Week 9/28
Imagn Images

Our weekly LA Kings prospect update returns for the first time this season. If you read these in previous seasons, you know the drill. If you’re new and reading this for the first time, I’ll go over this segment. Every week during the AHL regular season, we always give a weekly prospect update, highlighting the prospect of the week and providing the stats and games played for every prospect in the Kings system.

This season, the format will change. First, I have always included forwards Alexander Dergachyov and Bulat Shafigullin. That will change. I will no longer include those two in these weekly updates, as they will never come to North America to play for the Kings. Secondly, I will not include Jack Hughes on this list as I did last year. Hughes is on an AHL contract and technically isn’t under contract with the Kings on an NHL contract.

This feature will focus on prospects in the CHL, overseas, NCAA, AHL, ECHL, and NHL who are unsigned, signed to entry-level contracts, or re-signed after their ELCs expire.

Let’s get started!

The first weekly prospect update this season was highlighted by forward Liam Lefebvre. Lefebvre, 19, recorded three goals and two assists — including two goals and one assist on Sunday — in two games for the QMJHL’s Cape Breton Eagles. The Eagles paid a hefty price to acquire Lefebvre for this season, and the club has reaped early rewards.

Lefebvre has seven points (4 G, 3 A) in four games after standing out during training camp for the Kings. Lefebvre is a hard-checking forward with a competitive motor and a nose for the net. The 2026 second-round pick’s size and combination of skill and physical traits make him an intriguing prospect for the Kings.

Here is how the rest of the prospects in the pipeline fared during the week:
