The offseason is off and running for the LA Kings and their new general manager, Ken Holland. On Monday, the team announced a new one-year deal for goaltender Pheonix Copley carrying an average annual value (AAV) of $775,000.
After an ACL injury ended his 2023-24 season, Copley, 33, returned to appear in 42 games for the Ontario Reign last season, posting a 24-17-1 record with a .904 save percentage and 2.49 goals against average.
With Darcy Kuemper firmly in place as the LA Kings’ starting goalie for the 2025-26 season, it remains to be seen who will take his place as his backup. David Rittich assumed that role for most of the year, but with him still without a contract, Copley figures to be in the mix along with prospect Erik Portillo.
