Jordan Spence has shown plenty of promise for the Los Angeles Kings, but now, it appears he's headed to the Ottawa Senators in a surprise deal that sees the Senators move two draft picks for a talented young blue liner.

After taking a defenseman in round one of the 2025 NHL Draft, the Los Angeles Kings are loaded with young defenseman, and this summer, something clearly had to change.

While there's been speculation around Brandt Clarke, the Kings showed no interest in moving him, and now, they've reportedly traded another defenseman, with Jordan Spence likely headed to the Ottawa Senators in a surprise deal early on day two of the 2025 NHL Draft.

In the past hour, things have heated up around Spence, and as of right now, the expectation is that Spence will be headed to Ottawa next season, and given their need for depth on the blue line, this is a great move.

After this report, Elliotte Friedman jumped in to confirm the news, with the No. 67 pick and a sixth-round pick in 2026 headed to Los Angeles in the deal, with the 24-year old Spence set to get the chance for a more significant role next season.

The former fourth round pick has improved in recent years, tallying 24 and 28 points in his last two seasons with Los Angeles, and despite being a little smaller, he's clearly someone that's got plenty of promise moving forward.

For now, it appears the deal is done as both teams fill a need, and with the Senators looking to add some more talent on the blue line, they're taking a shot on the potential of Spence, who could be a solid player for them.
