LA Kings Training Camp Preview: Andre Lee

With training camp just around the corner, we are previewing each player on the LA Kings roster. Up next: Andre Lee!

Birthdate: July 26, 2000

Birthplace: Karlstad, Sweden

Height: 6’5

Weight: 210 lbs

Position: Left wing

Shoots: Left

Draft: 7th round, 188th overall, 2019 NHL Draft

*NOTE: Starting August 23rd, my Mom picked the order of the training camp player previews for the Reign players because I couldn’t figure out what order to do them in. So, I asked for her assistance. Today, she chose Andre Lee!

2025-26 season

During the summer of 2025, Lee worked on refining his offensive game, and the hard work paid off throughout the season. Lee was an exceptional force for the Ontario Reign down low around the net area, which was a problem for opposing goalies.

Lee led the Reign in goals at one point in the season, and I would say about 95-97% of his goals were within five feet of the blue paint. Considering the former seventh-round pick is a 6-foot-5 towering forward, it didn’t surprise me that Lee hovered around the net and would try to win position battles there or pucks along the wall.

Lee had a brief cup of coffee with the Kings as a call-up, but spent most of the season in Ontario on the third line with Kenny Connors and Jared Wright, with occasional time on the power play. He also had a brief stint in the top six as well.

Lee finished second on the Reign in goals (26) and fourth in points (48) while playing in 65 games, and represented the Reign in the All-Star Classic.

He scored one goal and added two helpers in five playoff games. Fun fact: He scored the Reign’s first goal of the season on opening night against the Tucson Roadrunners and the last one of the season in the winner-take-all Game 5 against the Coachella Valley Firebirds.

2026-27 outlook

The 26-year-old forward is entering the final year of his two-year contract extension he signed in March of 2025. He could be a name that battles for the 13th forward spot or a name to be considered as a call-up option with a good preseason showing.

I expect Lee to clear waivers (because he is waiver-eligible) to be assigned to the Reign. I don’t expect his role to change. Expect him to be a 5-on-5 contributor with occasional power play time and minutes on the penalty kill.

His AHL role is an energy player and penalty killer with offense in his game. For the NHL, it’s as the 12th or 13th forward. As a seventh-round pick, that’s fine because their chances of playing NHL games are slim to none; he’s already played in 26 NHL games.
