With training camp just around the corner, we are previewing each player on the LA Kings roster. Up next: Jacob Doty!

Birthplace: Denver, Colorado

Height: 6’4

Weight: 230 lbs

Position: Right wing

2025-26 season

Jacob Doty finished his seventh season with the Reign as an enforcer. Seven seasons with an AHL team is a big accomplishment because the Reign highly value Doty’s leadership, and AHL rosters see plenty of year-to-year turnover.

Doty didn’t play every single game, but when he did, his job was simple. Hit and fight. That’s it, and he does it well. You won’t see him score 10 goals a year, but you will see him throw hands with an opposing player and not be afraid to stand up for his teammates.

The 33-year-old suited up for 48 games and had more heavyweight bouts (8) than points (4). He played in only one of the Reign’s five playoff games.

2026-27 outlook

Doty will return for his eighth season with the Reign after being re-signed to a one-year AHL contract, making him the longest-tenured Reign player on the roster. Doty won’t be an everyday player again, but when inserted into the lineup, he will provide toughness and protect his teammates.
