LA Kings Training Camp Preview: Jared Woolley

With training camp just around the corner, we are previewing each player on the LA Kings roster. Up next: Jared Woolley!

Birthdate: February 27, 2006

Birthplace: Port Hope, Ontario

Height: 6’5

Weight: 216 lbs

Position: Defenseman

Shoots: Left

Draft: 6th round, 164th overall, 2024 NHL Draft

*NOTE: Since August 23rd, my Mom has picked the order of the training camp player previews for the Reign players because I couldn’t figure out what order to do them in. So, I asked for her assistance. Today, she chose Jared Woolley!

2025-26 season

Jared Woolley started the year with the London Knights and took on more of a two-way role, as London saw significant roster turnover, including Sharks defenseman prospect Sam Dickinson turning pro. Woolley played on the top pair with fellow Kings prospect Henry Brzustewicz and played a lot of minutes at 5v5 and saw time on the power play in addition to the penalty kill.

With London not in a spot to compete for an OHL or Memorial Cup, Woolley was part of a trade package to the Kitchener Rangers. The 20-year-old gave Kitchener experience and depth on the blue line, and he played a vital role in Kitchener’s OHL and Memorial Cup runs. He recorded 25 points in 37 games with London and 11 points in 29 games with Kitchener for 36 points in 66 games and played top-four minutes for both squads.

All Jared Woolley did was win in his junior career, and he capped it off with three straight OHL championships, back-to-back Memorial Cup victories, and three straight Memorial Cup appearances.

2026-27 outlook

Kings fans will get a chance to see the left-handed prospect make his pro debut. He’s garnered a lot of attention for his 6’5 size, but also for his ability to transport the puck. Woolley is by no means an offensive threat, but he’s known for his strong physical, two-way style of play. I’m curious to see how he will handle the pace of play in his rookie season, but it should be fun to see how he is deployed and how the rest of the young squad on the blue line develops this season.
