With training camp just around the corner, we are previewing each player on the LA Kings roster. Up next: Taylor Ward!

Taylor Ward

Birthdate: March 31, 1998

Birthplace: Kelowna, British Columbia

Height: 6’2

Weight: 215 lbs

Position: Right wing

Shoots: Right

Draft: Undrafted

2025-26 season

The 2025-26 season for Taylor Ward would be defined as a rewarding one. Ward played in the 2024-25 regular season finale and recorded a power-play goal in a 5-1 loss to the Calgary Wranglers. Having spent the previous three full seasons in Ontario with the Reign, Ward would begin his fourth professional season there again and started the campaign on fire.

Ward would score at least 10 of his 12 goals in a 14-game stretch. His play on the Reign would earn him a call-up to the Kings as the club dealt with injuries to several bottom-six players. He impressed the coaching staff in a sheltered fourth-line role, earning a two-year extension to keep him a King through the 2027-28 season. In 36 games with the Kings, Ward recorded seven points (3 G, 4 A), but posted 12 goals and 21 points in a bigger role with the Reign.

2026-27 outlook

Ward probably won’t be an everyday player with the veteran signings the Kings made in the offseason. There is a good chance for him to earn the 13th forward spot on the roster, or the Kings sneak him through waivers to keep him as organizational depth in Ontarioand gets called up in the future. For Ward, his contract is a one-way deal, so he will earn the same amount of money whether he plays in the AHL or NHL this season.
