Ryan Reaves was traded to the San Jose Sharks, and now, Maple Leafs fans have called him out for the comments he's made and the media tour he's doing.
The Toronto Maple Leafs traded Mitch Marner to the Vegas Golden Knights this season, and then a series of events and comments from Ryan Reaves led them to move the veteran to the San Jose Sharks.
Since that point, Reaves has gone on a media tour, stating that he asked Brad Treliving for a trade and pointing out the lack of trust that led to him struggling for playing time a year ago, throwing the fans and the city under the bus in the process.
'Things were going really wrong, and all of a sudden this whole city wanted me out. I don't think you see that in other organizations It's definitely different, but it's nothing too crazy.'
Unsurprisingly, many Leafs fans took offence to that and other things Reaves has said, with many taking to social media to call him out for the controversy he's stirred up.
In this post, the fan calls out Reaves for lacking self-awareness, and after he failed to stand up in his role a season ago, it's easy to see why, as he's noted a lack of trust from the team, but given he was brought in to fight, having just one fighting penalty on the entire season, it's no wonder he was benched and placed on waivers.
Prior to this off-season, Reaves was simply seen as a veteran that was afraid of doing his job on the team and getting waived for it, but now fans have caught on to how he lacks self awareness and has begun playing the victim, so don't be surprised to see him very hated when he returns to Toronto (if he is even on the ice for that one).
