Leafs Fans Furious After Tim Stutzle is Caught Wildly Embellishing Tripping Penalty

Tim Stutzle has become known as arguably the biggest diver in the entire NHL, and unsurprisingly, Leafs fans are now furious after he did just that on Thursday.

The Battle of Ontario continued to heat up in Game 3 on Thursday, and in another overtime thriller, the Toronto Maple Leafs got themselves to a 3-0 record in the series behind a surprise winner from defenseman Simon Benoit.

That's not the only talking point after the game however, as many Leafs fans are once again furious with Tim Stutzle, who used his renowned diving skills to earn the Senators a penalty in the game.

With a clear replay of another angle, you can see that Steven Lorentz makes little to no contact, but with Stutzle continuing to embellish calls in the NHL, he earned his team a penalty on the play.

Unsurprisingly, fans on social media were absolutely furious with the league for allowing such disgraceful play to continue, and they called out Stutzle, the Senators and the league for it.

While there's not much that complaining on social media can do, this is a horrendous look for the NHL, who rarely step in and penalize Stutzle, even when he is blatantly exaggerating no contact to get a penalty call.

Over the past three years, this has become something that Stutzle is known for, and given that he's an incredible talent, it makes it even more frustrating that he has to resort to these type of tactics to get ahead.

Fortunately for those Maple Leafs fans, the team pulled out yet another dramatic victory, and with the series all but wrapped up, if they can avoid this type of play again in Game 4, the team and their fans are incredibly optimistic that they can continue this momentum and roll through the Battle of Ontario in 2025.
