The Toronto Maple Leafs are eyeing big changes this summer, and now GM Brad Treliving has revealed their plans for the 2025 NHL Draft on Friday with very few big time picks to work with.

The 2024/25 season was a promising one in Toronto, but ultimately the team once again fell short of their Stanley Cup goals, and with Mitch Marner on the way out, this team is going to be shaken up in a big way over the summer.

Unfortunately for Toronto, while they have plenty of cap space, they don't have many assets in the draft to work with, and ahead of the 2025 NHL Draft, General Manager Brad Treliving has addressed what they're going to do with their picks.

'The (scouts) are well positioned here looking at move-down scenarios potentially more than move-up.'

In his final comments before the draft, Treliving notes that his scouts are well set up to either move down or up, although with their first pick being at No. 64, they're more likely to move down than they are the alternative.

The Maple Leafs first pick in the 2025 NHL Draft will be at 64, but beyond that they've got picks 86, 137, 153, 185 and 217, and with the team looking to potentially acquire more draft picks or make another move, they're poised to either move up or down.

Ultimately, this off-season for Toronto is likely to be all about free agency with Marner on the way out, and with the team having the cap space to splash on Sam Bennett, Brad Marchand, Aaron Ekblad or others, expect them to be busy this summer, but not as much on draft night.
