Maple Leafs reporter Nick Kypreos has made a shocking comment on Dallas Stars forward Mikko Rantanen and his blockbuster departure from the Colorado Avalanche.

The acquisition of Mikko Rantanen by the Dallas Stars from the Carolina Hurricanes could not have worked out more positively so far for Dallas.

He's become the 1st player in NHL Stanley Cup Playoff history to score natural hat tricks in consecutive postseason games, with the first one coming in Game 7 of the Stars' opening round series against his old club, the Colorado Avalanche.

He followed that up with a 2nd period hat trick against the Winnipeg Jets as part of his club's Game 1 3-2 win.

The Avalanche are still trying to pick up the pieces and figure out exactly what happened to them, and a damning new report from Maple Leafs analyst Nick Kypreos has been making the rounds.

Speaking of what he believes the mindset of Rantanen was, Kypreos said:

Do you know why I'm going to Dallas? Because I want to jam it down Colorado's throat.

Avalanche president and former captain Joe Sakic expressed no regret over the Rantanen trade, saying that it's in the past and nothing can be done about it now.

What's done is done. That happened. We move forward. We were very confident with the group we have here. It was a lot deeper, a lot stronger than it was to start the year or at Christmas time.

Avalanche general manager Chris MacFarland, who executed the stunning trade of Rantanen to the Hurricanes in late January, also expressed no regrets.
