Liam Lefebvre Commits To Boston University

A Los Angeles Kings prospect is heading to one of the most renowned college hockey programs. According to a team announcement on Instagram, center Liam Lefebvre has committed to Boston University for college hockey. Lefebvre was originally committed to the University of Vermont.

Lefebvre, 19, was drafted 46th overall by the Kings in the 2026 NHL Draft. A native of Montréal, QC, Lefebvre spent a few years in the United States high school circuit before heading back to northeast Canada for his major junior career.

He began the 2025-26 season with the QMJHL’s Rimouski Océanic, scoring 15 goals and 29 points in 34 games with a -8 rating. Looking to add size and scoring, Chicoutimi Saguenéens acquired Lefebvre from the Océanic in a mid-season trade. He finished the season scoring 17 goals and 30 points in 25 games with a +9 rating. Lefebvre helped the Saguenéens win the QMJHL championship last season, registering five goals and 12 points in 20 postseason contests.

Shortly after the Memorial Cup tournament ended, Lefebvre was again involved in a QMJHL trade, this time to the Cape Breton Eagles. According to the team over at Mayor’s Manor, Lefebvre is expected to remain with Cape Breton for the 2026-27 season and join the Terriers for the 2027-28 campaign.

In Corey Pronman’s recent prospect rankings on The Athletic, he listed Lefebvre as the eighth-best prospect in the Kings system. In a brief scouting profile, Pronman said, “Lefebvre had an impressive first season in the Q. He’s a tall, fast winger who’s quite physical and, on his best shifts, looks like a potential difference-maker. His offense is quite inconsistent, though, lacking natural playmaking skills, but he has a decent shot.“
