The Winnipeg Jets are active ahead of their game tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Defenseman Logan Stanley and Luke Schenn are both being held out of tonight’s game for roster management reasons.

The Winnipeg Jets in place have recalled Isaak Phillips from the Manitoba Moose and brought Ville Heinola into the lineup to serve on the third defensive pairing.

This development is significant because Scott Arniel indicated in the morning skate that both players were set to play. Arniel added that he did not anticipate any players being held out for roster management reasons.

Scehnn and Stanley join Vladislav Namestnikov as healthy scratches, but Namestnikov isn’t sitting for the reasons the two defenders are.

Stanley, a 6-foot-7 defenseman, is having a career season in 59 games played this year. It’s the second game he’s set to miss, while the first was due to being suspended for punching Brady Tkachuk.

Stanley’s posted 21 points (9G, 12A) and 99 PIMs in the games he’s played in. The physical defenseman has been someone that the team has been patient with since drafting him 18th overall in 2016.

Across 261 games, Stanley’s posted 57 points (14G, 43A) and 304 PIMs in that time frame.

Schenn, a 36-year-old NHL defenseman, joined the Winnipeg Jets at the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline following a trade to Pittsburgh.

Schenn has posted seven points (1G, 6A) and 32 PIMs for the Winnipeg Jets in 46 games this season. The former fifth overall draft selection by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2008 has suited up in 1,118 NHL contests. He’s racked up 212 points (45G, 167A) and 884 PIMs in that time.

Schenn’s career saw him win back-to-back Stanley Cups in Tampa Bay in the 2020 and 2021 postseasons.

It will be interesting to see what the Jets get for either Stanley or Schenn given the Friday trade deadline approaching in less than 24 hours.
