Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment CEO Keith Pelley is hinting at even more changes coming to the Maple Leafs this summer after the dismissal of Brendan Shanahan.
The Toronto Maple Leafs yet again weren't able to win a Game 7, dropping their 7th straight dating back to 2013 and getting eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs, this time by the divisional foe Florida Panthers.
The Maple Leafs held a series lead of 2-0 and managed to tie it at 3-3 after losing 3 straight, but lost a humiliating 6-1 final on home ice to once again end their season.
The franchise has already signaled a major new move in leadership after it was announced that the contract of team president Brendan Shanahan would not be renewed; he had been on the job since 2014 but only oversaw a pair of playoff series wins.
Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment (which already cut 80 workforce jobs in March) CEO Keith Pelley hinted that there would be more changes coming to the club during the summer.
I'm not worried about the size of the department or any of that. What I'm most concerned with, and concern is probably the wrong word, is are those resources being put in the right area? And that's the only thing that matters.
Well, you think about it if you look at the structure that we have right now, there's a lot of advisors in there right now. There's a lot of people with a lot of experience. You look at the Shane Doans. You look at Brandon Pridham. Brad and I will have that conversation.
Current general manager Brad Treliving will stay in his current role, but that doesn't mean that everyone else is safe.
