The Toronto Maple Leafs have hired John Chayka as General Manager and Mats Sundin as Senior Executive Advisor. Reports surfaced on Sunday that the organization was set to make the announcement Monday morning.
Their exact roles have yet to be outlined, but NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reports they’ll work in tandem and the Sundin job is full time. He’ll be relocating from Sweden.
Sundin has no NHL executive experience and Chayka hasn’t been an NHL manager since his last run with the Arizona Coyotes.
