The Toronto Maple Leafs could look very different when the NHL season kicks off next year. With multiple key players entering free agency, the front office has some tough decisions to make.

The biggest involves star forward Mitch Marner, who is expected to heavily test the open market. Marner isn't expected to return to Toronto, despite spending his entire career with the Maple Leafs.

If Marner does leave in free agency, that would leave a massive hole in the Maple Leafs' lineup. But one NHL insider has a potential solution for Toronto to consider.

During an appearance on The Fourth Period, insider Dave Pagnotta mentioned that New York Rangers All-Star Chris Kreider could be a solid option. While he isn't Marner, Kreider could help replace some of the offense that Marner would leave behind.

"I expect the Rangers to make calls and listen on Chris Kreider...I could certainly see the Leafs exploring that possibility."

There have been a lot of rumors about the Rangars possibly moving on from Kreider this offseason, sparking more thought into a trade. Chris Johnston of The Athletic even listed Kreider as the top option atop the trade board for the upcoming offseason.

Kreider did have a down season with the Rangers this past season, putting up 22 goals and eight assists over 68 games played.. But his playoff track record could interest the Maple Leafs.

The veteran has scored 24 goals and 13 assists in his last 43 playoff games. This is an area where Toronto has struggled, and could be a reason for them to go after the All-Star.

Toronto needs to make some big changes this offseason, and bringing in a veteran like Kreider could make a difference. There will be multiple routes for the Maple Leafs to go this offseason, with Kreider being one of them.
