It would have been surprising (more than surprising, even) to see the Canadiens look elsewhere to fill the team's head coaching position.

So, just minutes before the coach's press conference at the golf tournament, the Canadiens are ensuring that this issue won't be a distraction moving forward.

After all, a head coach whose contract is up always gets people talking.

It's worth noting that St. Louis has led the Canadiens to the playoffs in each of the last two seasons, including a run to the semifinals just a few months ago.
