The status of Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies, who was hurt in Game 6 after a hit from Niko Mikkola, for Game 7 against the Florida Panthers has officially been revealed.

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies was shaken up after taking a reverse hit from Florida Panthers defenseman Niko Mikkola as part of Toronto's 2-0 win in Game 6 on Friday night.

Knies missed a shift but was able to play in the rest of the contest, though television cameras caught him wincing on the bench and appearing to tell a team trainer, 'I can't even move it'.

The Maple Leafs have now disclosed the status for Knies for Game 7:

On Saturday morning, before the Maple Leafs departed back home to Toronto, coach Craig Berube didn't have a promising update.

I haven't seen him today so, I mean, I don't have an update for you right now. I will today, though, at some point, for sure. How he's doing and how we've got to proceed going forward here with him.

Knies has joined the Leafs for the morning skate early Sunday and will officially play game 7

During Game 6, Knies amassed just 13:01 of total ice time, a good 7 minutes less than his traditional 20:11 of ice time per game in the postseason and indicating the severity of the discomfort he was experiencing.

Bobby McMann stepped up in the absence of Knies, filling in on the top line.

Knies has 7 points (5G, 2A) in 12 playoff games for the Maple Leafs so far after scoring a career-best 58 points (29G, 29A) in 78 games during the regular season. He's a pending restricted free agent on July 1.
