Panthers assistant captain Matthew Tkachuk fired a shot across the bow at the Edmonton Oilers not long after defeating them once again in the Stanley Cup Final.
For the 2nd straight year, the Florida Panthers took down the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Final and were crowned champions.
It was the first rematch in the Cup Final since the 2008 and 2009 Detroit Red Wings and Pittsburgh Penguins met one another, with each team winning once.
The Panthers, led by Conn Smythe Trophy winner Sam Bennett, defeated the Oilers in six games and once again get to spend the summer celebrating.
Not long after raising the Cup for the 2nd time in as many years, Panthers assistant captain Matthew Tkachuk appeared to have fired a shot across the bow at the Oilers.
Heart meets talent. Our team was a team. When things were getting hard for them, they looked to one guy. But our team, we do it collectively. And that's why we're lifting the Stanley Cup right now. Because we're a team and not a bunch of individuals.
Tkachuk may have been referring to the Oilers looking to one of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, who are arguably the top players on Earth.
While Draisaitl scored 3 goals in the Cup Final, including a pair of OT GWGs, McDavid only scored one goal in the series.
The Panthers got contributions from up and down the lineup, including an astounding 6 goals in the series from newcomer Brad Marchand, acquired from the divisional foe Boston Bruins at the Trade Deadline.
The Panthers displayed the true meaning of being a team with unbeatable depth and the collective mindset of glory for the team and not just their top players, and that's why they're Stanley Cup champions yet again.
