Minnesota Wild Acquire Michael McCarron

The Nashville Predators and Minnesota Wild have made a intra division trade. The Predators are sending forward Michael McCarron to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for a 2028 second-round draft pick. McCarron is a free agent after this season and carries a $0.90 million cap hit. The Wild already added defenseman Quinn Hughes earlier this season and now they add a bottom-six piece to their lineup. This season in 59 games for the Predators McCarron has 12 points on five goals and seven assists. He’s a -15 with a shorthanded goal and a 52.8 faceoff percentage.

The Montreal Canadiens drafted McCarron 25th overall in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. He made his debut on December 19, 2015. He recorded his first point on February 27, 2016. His first NHL goal came on March 20, 2016. He finished that season in 20 games with those two points only and was a minus-ten. In three seasons with the Canadiens, he appeared in 69 games recording eight points on two goals and six assists. He was a -15 with a 47.3 faceoff percentage.

Since joining the Predators he has spent six seasons with them appearing in 292 games. McCarron had 66 points on 31 goals and 35 assists. He was a -24 with two shorthanded goals, six game-winning goals, and a 53.7 faceoff percentage. Over his nine-year NHL career, he has appeared in 361 games, with 74 points on 33 goals and 41 assists. He has a career -39 with two shorthanded goals, six game-winning goals, and a 52.8 faceoff percentage. In nine Stanley Cup Playoff games, he’s pointless and is a minus-seven.
