The 2025 NHL Draft has wrapped up, and the focus of all 32 teams has shifted to Tuesday’s free agency window. The annual free agent frenzy is a spectacle around the league, with extensions, new contracts, and trades flying at a pace that’s hard for the casual fan to keep up with.

If you fall into that category, or if you just want a refresher on who’s going to be available when the window opens, Daily Faceoff has compiled a list of the top-75 unrestricted free agents who are set to be open for business, and three Toronto Maple Leafs made the list. Mitch Marner headlines the entire thing, unsurprisingly, with forwards Max Pacioretty and Steven Lorentz ranked at 23rd and 55th, respectively.

Marner has been connected to a number of teams, with the Vegas Golden Knights emerging as a sudden sign-and-trade candidate for the 29-year-old. Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported on Saturday that the two teams had been discussing a move for the past week, with Toronto looking to acquire forward Nicolas Roy as part of the return. Getting anything at all for Marner when everybody had already made peace with him walking for nothing would be a gigantic win for all parties, but there haven’t been any further updates regarding this.

Pacioretty, 36, was a last-minute signing for the Maple Leafs prior to 2024-25 and while he didn’t make a huge impact in the regular season, he showed up and channeled his inner prime with three goals and eight points in the playoffs, including the game-winning goal against the Ottawa Senators to send his team to the second round. Lorentz, meanwhile, signed a one-year deal with the Maple Leafs after he inked a professional tryout contract prior to preseason. He scored eight goals and added 19 points in 80 games in 2024-25.

While all (or most) of the attention surrounding the Toronto Maple Leafs has involved Marner, the team quietly got some crucial deals out of the way over the weekend. They signed John Tavares to an extremely team-friendly extension worth $4.38 million annually for the next four years, and then completed a tidy piece of business with pending restricted free agent Matthew Knies, who inked a six-year contract worth $7.75 million annually.
