The Montreal Canadiens took a huge step forward last season, and now according to Tony Marinaro, the team are showing interest in Kraken star Jared McCann.
There are some exciting, up-and-coming teams all around the NHL, but given the leap they took in 2024/25, there's no team more promising in the league than the Montreal Canadiens.
With so many young talents like Cole Caufield, Lane Hutson and Ivan Demidov leading the way, there's reason for optimism next season, and if they can get off to a good start, they'll no doubt be buyers at the trade deadline.
One piece that they may be looking to add is a legit goal scorer that can play on the wing or down the middle, and according to Tony Marinaro, they may have found just the player.
In his recent report, the host of The Sick Podcast has revealed that the Kraken star forward is a target of the Canadiens, and with the proven ability to score goals on the wing or down the middle, the 29-year old is the perfect trade target.
Last season, McCann tallied a solid 22 goals on a mediocre Kraken team, with 51 goals scored over the last two seasons following a career high of 40 goals scored back in 2022/23, and on a talented team, the belief is that he could bounce back to that level.
On top of their young talent in the NHL, the Canadiens have plenty of assets to part with, so while they may hold out for a proven superstar that can help them, if the deadline comes around and McCann is still playing at a high level, don't be surprised to see him as the big addition for Montreal.
