The Montreal Canadiens have loaned forward Owen Beck and defenseman David Reinbacher back down to their AHL affiliate, the Laval Rocket.
Both players did not play in the Canadiens’ 4-3 overtime loss to the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday night at the Bell Centre.
During this recent stint with the Montreal Canadiens, Owen Beck played in two games where he was held off the scoresheet, recorded two shots and had a -2 rating while averaging 7:23 of ice time. The 6-foot, 199-pound, 22-year-old forward has one goal and one assist in 30 NHL games. Before his most recent call-up to the NHL, Beck had one assist in four games with the Laval Rocket.
Since his most recent call up from the AHL a week ago, David Reinbacher, played in one game. He played 9:09 and recorded one shot in a 4-3 overtime win against the Buffalo Sabres this past Saturday. The fifth overall pick in 2023 has played in three NHL games in his career, where has an assist to his name. Reinbacher had two assists in four games with the Laval Rocket, before his call-up.
The Montreal Canadiens are set to embark on a four-game midwestern road trip that starts in Chicago against the Blackhawks on Friday night and then heads to Winnipeg for The Heritage Classic against the Jets on Sunday. With Beck and Reinbacher going back to the AHL, the Canadiens now have just 12 healthy forwards and six healthy defensemen, however there may be reinforcements coming back from injury.
Forward Florian Xhekaj and defenseman Mike Matheson have been skating at Complex CN in Brossard the past few days. Given that the Canadiens opted to send Beck and Reinbacher back to the AHL before their road trip, Xhekaj and Matheson could be closing in on a return.
