Multiple-Time 70 Point Scorer Emerges on the NHL Trade Block

A multiple-time 70-point-scorer emerged on the NHL trade block, only a few days away from the Draft.

NHL fans are preparing for what could be the busiest week of the year in hockey, with both the Draft and the opening of free agency set to go down in the coming days.

According to multiple sources, St. Louis Blues forward Jordan Kyrou could switch teams due to his contractual situation.

The 27-year-old winger is coming off another solid season with 36 goals and 34 assists for 70 points in 82 games. However, his six-year contract, which carries an $8.125 million AAV, becomes significantly more complicated on July 1, when his full no-trade clause officially kicks in.

Per Frank Seravalli:

"Kyrou joins the board as a player just days away from his full 'no-trade' clause kicking in on July 1. He's been a very productive player, averaging 35 goals and 71 points over the last three seasons. So why would the Blues move him? That's a big commitment remaining. Plus the calculus that rival teams have made is that GM Doug Armstrong will see rookie Jimmy Snuggerud as a player who can effectively soon replace Kyrou. The Blues are a middling team that aren't young, and this may be one way to continue to turn over the roster.'

Kyrou's name appearing on the block doesn't mean a deal will go down this week, or even this summer, but with the Blues stuck in a middle ground where they are not rebuilding nor contending, moving a top-six could go a long way.

Teams such as the Columbus Blue Jackets, Los Angeles Kings, or New York Islanders could show interest in trading for Kyrou, but they'll need to pay a hefty price to get him.

Stay tuned for further developments related to the St. Louis Blues and Jordan Kyrou ahead of the NHL Draft.
