There's another trade to announce, as the San Jose Sharks have acquired Shane Bowers from the New Jersey Devils in return for Thomas Bordeleau.

The start of the NHL's free agency period has begun with a flurry of signings, while there have also been a handful of trades completed.

There's another trade to announce, as the New Jersey Devils have acquired Thomas Bordeleau from the San Jose Sharks, and in return they sent Shane Bowers to San Jose.

Bowers is a former 1st round pick of the Ottawa Senators, taken with the 28th overall pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. At the time, he was highly regarded by the NHL Central Scouting Bureau, ranked the 16th overall skater from North America.

He played the next 2 years in the NCAA with the Boston University Terriers.

However, he didn't see action with the Senators, instead being traded as part of a package to the Colorado Avalanche in return for Matt Duchene. Eventually, he would be dealt again, this time to the Boston Bruins in return for goaltender Keith Kinkaid.

Bowers was then sent to the New Jersey Devils, where he spent the majority of his time with the AHL affiliate Utica Comets. This year in Utica, he had 17 points (3G, 14A) in 65 games.

Meanwhile, Bordeleau was taken with the 38th overall pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft by the Sharks. He would play 2 years for the NCAA's Michigan Wolverines, and has spent the majority of his professional career playing with the AHL affiliate San Jose Barracuda.

In 44 NHL games, he has 18 points (6G, 18A).
