NHL Fans Roast Corey Perry After Losing 5th Stanley Cup Final in 6 Years

The bad luck continues for Oilers' Corey Perry, as he has now lost his last five attempts at the Stanley Cup, and he was absolutely roasted by fans for this stat.

The devastation is really settling in for the Edmonton Oilers. After crawling back from down 3-0 in the Stanley Cup Final to force Game 7 versus the Florida Panthers in 2024, the Oilers squandered their opportunity at revenge in six games this year.

It stings for everyone in Edmonton, especially for superstars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, who are desperate to hoist the Cup, and for the fans who live and die with their beloved team. But it's especially painful for Corey Perry.

The 40-year-old has now lost in each of his last five Stanley Cup Final appearances, a stat that is unheard of.

These poor and unlucky performances in the finals have led to ridicule and hate from fans online.

The unfortunate run for Perry began in the 2020 playoffs

Last year, Perry became the first player to lose at that stage with four different teams after he lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2020 and 2021 as a member of the Dallas Stars and Montreal Canadiens, respectively.

He then joined Tampa, but came up short once again against the Colorado Avalanche in 2022. Now, he has lost in two straight seasons with the Oilers.

Perry does a ring, which he captured in 2007 with the Anaheim Ducks when they took out the Ottawa Senators.

However, the Stanley Cup is the hardest trophy to win in sports, and anytime you come that close without finishing it off, it leaves some major damage.

At this stage of his career, there are no guarantees he will get back to the Final, now that he is 40 years old.

Perry posted 10 goals and four assists over 22 playoff games. He has a knack for greasy goals around the net that will hopefully keep him playing alongside McDavid and Draisaitl.

Regardless, it is another crushing letdown for Perry, who will now have to deal with all of this negativity from the fans all throughout the offseason.
