NHL goalie swallows his pride after initially rejecting the Vancouver Canucks

Yesterday, the Vancouver Canucks announced that they signed a one-year deal with Kevin Lankinen worth $875K.

The backup goaltender last played with the Nashville Predators and had initially been confronted by the Canucks a couple of weeks ago. However, at the time, it was reported that Lankinen refused the offer because he wanted to make over $1 million. Well, it seems like the goaltender has decided to swallow his pride as he accepted much less than he initially wanted.

Of course, Lankinen is being brought in thanks to the injuries to guys like Arturs Silovs and Thatcher Demko. Needless to say, the Canucks needed to get a deal done, and fast.

Lankinen hasn't exactly set the world on fire in the NHL. He has a career record of 43-45-12 and has a goals-against average of 3.07. His save percentage isn't much better as it is barely above 90 percent. Regardless, the Canucks were in a position where they needed a goalie and fast. This new deal will ultimately help them throughout the early portion of the season.
