NHL Injuries: Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar didn't return for third period in Monday's game

NHL: Anaheim Ducks defenseman Radko Gudas played with a lower-body injury last night against the Maple Leafs. It’s their first game against each other since Gudas ended Auston Matthews season with a knee-on-knee hit.

Defenseman Pavel Mintyukov returned to the lineup after missing one game with a lower-body injury.

Dan Arritt: Ducks forward Cutter Gauthier left last night’s game with an upper-body injury. Coach Joel Quenneville: “We’ll see how he is (Tuesday) and get a better read on it.”

Matthew Fairburn: Buffalo Sabres defenseman Michael Kesselring and forward Jordan Greenway could be options tonight, according to coach Lindy Ruff. The timeline for forward Noah Ostlund isn’t known, as he could be day-to-day, but possibly out for a longer period of time.

Corey Masisak: Colorado Avalanche coach Jared Bednar said that forward Nic Roy will resume skating this week and will get into a game well before the start of the playoffs.

• Corey Masisak: Makar took a hit from Adam Klapka with 5:28 left in the second period. He finished the shift and took too more afterwards. Makar didn’t come out for the third.

NHL: Dallas Stars forward Sam Steel will be out for at least a week.

David Dwork: Florida Panthers forward Aleksander Barkov won’t play for the rest of the season.

Andrew Gross: New York Islanders defenseman Tony DeAngelo (lower-body) hasn’t started skating yet.

Stefen Rosner: Islanders defenseman Alexander Romanov skated for the third consecutive day in a no-contact jersey.

Julian McKenzie: Ottawa Senators defenseman Jake Sanderson won’t play tonight.

Josh Yohe: Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin remained out last night.

Tom Gulitti: Washington Capitals forward Aliaksei Protas (upper-body) didn’t practice yesterday, and coach Spencer Carbery said Protas won’t play tonight. He’s likely going to be out for a little while.
