On July 1, the Vancouver Canucks and Brock Boeser finally agreed to a seven-year extension worth $50.75 million.
The new deal will keep the 28-year-old in Vancouver for possibly the rest of his career, as Boeser has been with the organization since 2015 when they drafted him 23rd overall.
Ultimatley, this is contract is a big win for not just the Canucks and Boeser, but also the fan base, as they have been sharing their excitement nonstop online since the signing was made public.
Boeser re-signing with Vancouver was a surprising moment, as most reports stated that he would be playing somewhere else.
The Canucks attempted to trade him at the deadline, while many insiders over the past few weeks reported that Boeser signing an extension was nearly impossible.
In the end, though, the two sides were able to come to an agreement, keeping Boeser in British Columbia for the next seven years.
Despite all this, NHL insider Rick Dhaliwal revealed the Canucks number one priority on July 1st wasn't Boeser, but rather Christian Dvorak. They reportedly got into a bidding war with Philadelphia for Dvorak and went to Boeser once they lost out.
'Canucks number 1 priority on July 1st wasn't Brock Boeser, it was Dvorak. They got into a bidding war with Philly for Dvorak...Don't kid yourself Canucks number 1 option wasn't Boeser. They went to Boeser once they lost Dvorak'.- Rick Dhaliwal
Overall, July 1 was a stressful day for Boeser as he had offers from teams around the league and was trying to decide what club would be the best fit for him.
