The Dallas Stars Acquire Tyler Myers

The Tyler Myers saga is over as the Vancouver Canucks trade the defenseman to the Dallas Stars for a second-round pick in 2027 and a fourth-round pick in 2029.

In addition, the Canucks are retaining half of Myers $3 million cap hit this year and next.

Many people were wondering when the Myers saga would end. Reports were that the Detroit Red Wings made an offer to the Canucks for Myers last week. There was a belief that Monday would be decision day for Myers, as he had a full no-movement clause. However, it took longer because Myers was hoping his home-state team, the Dallas Stars, would make an offer for his services.

As reported, Tyler Myers wanted to go to Dallas all along.

Kiefer Sherwood Extends in San Jose

The San Jose Sharks have taken Kiefer Sherwood off the market. It was announced that Sherwood, who was acquired for a second and fourth round pick, has signed a new five-year deal with the Sharks.

Sherwood’s deal carries a salary cap hit of $5.75 million

Sherwood is a utility winger who has shown significant improvement in his scoring this season. This is a great depth piece for the Sharks, who are looking to get back to the playoffs.

Minnesota Wild Pay a Price for Michael McCarron

The Minnesota Wild, who need center help, acquired Michael McCarron from the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night for second round pick in 2028.

McCarron is a big, physical player that the Wild have seen firsthand. He is an effective player in the dot.
