Flyers’ Storylines

The six-game losing streak is finally over after the Flyers secured a 2-1 win over the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday, snapping Vegas’ seven-game winning streak in the process. Travis Konecny single-handedly powered the offence with a pair of goals. Konecny has 12 goals since the start of December, a span of 22 games.

Another major storyline in Monday’s game was the performance of Samuel Ersson. Ersson’s struggles have been no secret, but the Flyers’ netminder made 24 saves for his first win since December 23. The Flyers will continue to lean on Ersson for a bit longer. Daniel Vladar is with the team on the current road trip, but likely won’t return from injury until Friday at the earliest.

Mammoth Storylines

The Mammoth have stormed into 2026 with wins in seven of nine games and a seven-game points streak entering Wednesday’s game. That has them back in a wildcard spot in the Western Conference.

Nick Schmaltz has seven points in the last five games, including four goals. Clayton Keller has gone eight straight games without a goal, but has 10 assists over the last six games. Dylan Guenther leads the way with 23 goals on the season, but has just three in the last eight games.

Utah is also paced by the solid goaltending of Karel Vejmelka. Vejmelka has made 37 starts already this season with a 23-11-2 record, a 2.55 GAA, and a .902 save percentage.

Prediction and Best Bets

These two teams have a history of playing close games. The Flyers may have found some new life getting back into the win column, but the Mammoth have been rolling for some time now. Expect a close game with Utah getting the edge.

Prediction: Mammoth 3, Flyers 2 (OT)

For best bets on the Flyers, take Travis Konecny for an anytime goal. Konecny has factored into four of the last five goals for the Flyers as a team, scoring three of them. Konecny also has three goals in his career against Vejmelka and two goals against Utah backup Vitek Vanecek.

For the Mammoth, take both Dylan Guenther and Clayton Keller to pick up at least one point. Keller is a point-per-game player against the Flyers, with five goals and 14 points in 14 games. Guenther has a much smaller sample size against the Flyers, but has made his mark with two goals and two assists in three games.
