The Vancouver Canucks host West Coast rival Seattle Kraken on the nightcap game of Hockey Night in Canada. Seattle sits at 29-26-9 after 64 games, with 67 points, while Vancouver sits at 20-37-8 after 65 games, with 48 points. This is the fourth and final meeting between these two teams. Seattle won the previous meeting, 5-1, just two weeks ago, on February 28th.

The Kraken Story

The Seattle Kraken find themselves in a perilous spot as they have lost four consecutive games in regulation. They have lost their grip on a Wild Card playoff spot in the Western Conference and now sit two points outside the Stanley Cup Playoff line. They have given up 19 goals in the last four games, which goes contrary to their stingy brand of hockey. Their odds, according to  MoneyPuck, of making the playoffs have dropped to 29.9%, down from 61% from last week. That shows just how damaging the last week has been for them.

However, the Kraken should remain poised to push for a playoff spot. Although they lack star power up front, they are a balanced bunch with many capable players on their roster. They also recently added forward Bobby McMann in a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Management clearly still has belief in them, but now, the players will need to believe in themselves.

The Canucks Story

The vibes seem good for the Vancouver Canucks. You can see it in the players’ body language, their goal celebrations, and their enthusiasm. Although the Canucks will likely finish in last place in the NHL this season, that will not stop them from building morale for the future. The line of Liam Ohgren, Marco Rossi, and Brock Boeser was impressive in the last game, combining for six points on the night. With one of the younger rosters in the league now, with not much at stake at this point, building some team chemistry will be essential in the Canucks’ rebuild.

Starting Goalies

Below are the projected starters for tonight’s game. Please check social media for the most updated information before locking in your daily fantasy lineups.

The Kraken will likely start Philipp Grubauer in the net. In 25 games this season, he has an 11-8-3 record, a 2.54 goals-against average, and a .912 save percentage. He came into the net in relief for Joey Daccord in the last game against the Colorado Avalanche.

For Vancouver, Kevin Lankinen should get the start. In 36 games this season, he has a 7-21-5 record, a 3.65 goals-against average, and an .877 save percentage. He has lost eight consecutive starts, but in his last two starts, he has only given up four goals on 59 shots. Maybe he can turn it around tonight.

Prediction and Best Bets

While the Canucks are sitting at the bottom of the standings, their confidence might just be higher than the Kraken right now. The Canucks have nothing to lose, and the Kraken are in the midst of a playoff push. Vancouver could take advantage of a nervous Kraken group and tie up the season series.

Prediction: Canucks win 4-3.

Best Bets

To wrap things up, here are our anytime goal scorer picks. For Seattle, we will pick Jared McCann to get a goal. For Vancouver, we will count on Marco Rossi to score one.
