NHL Rumors: Connor McDavid is not Leaving Edmonton

Jim Biringer and David Calabretta are back on the Full Press Hockey Podcast with their latest NHL Rumors Weekly Segment. With the NHL Draft coming up and Free Agency right around the corner, they dive into the hot topics, which include the future of Connor McDavid in Edmonton, where Mitch Marner signs, and what the Montreal Canadiens do.

The NHL Rumors that are discussed in this episode of the Full Press NHL Podcast are:

– The Edmonton Oilers lost again in the Stanley Cup Final, and there are big decisions ahead. Connor McDavid needs a contract extension. He will stay, but the chatter won’t go away. But they also have other needs like offense, defense, and goaltending. Where do they turn?

– The Florida Panthers won the Stanley Cup for the second straight year. Is there a way that the Panthers can keep Sam Bennett, Brad Marchand, and Aaron Ekblad? GM Bill Zito wants to, but how much money does he have to use?

– The Dallas Stars remain active this offseason. Moves have already been made with the signing of Matt Duchene and the trade of Mason Marchment, but what else are they going to do this off-season?

–  Where will Mitch Marner sign? He isn’t returning and is staying with the Toronto Maple Leafs. The most likely scenario is he heads out West to sign with the Vegas Golden Knights, Utah Manmoth, or Los Angeles Kings. It is unlikely that the Carolina Hurricanes will actually sign him, but is there a surprise team, like the Columbus Blue Jackets, that has signed a big free agent before? 

– How active will the Montreal Canadiens be this off-season? They are on the hunt for a second-line center and a scoring winger. Will they use one of their draft picks to fill a need?
