NHL Rumors: Edmonton Oilers, and the Minnesota Wild

The Edmonton Oilers should be able to move Andrew Mangiapane without a sweetener

David Staples of the Edmonton Journal: Elliotte Friedman reported the Edmonton Oilers and winger Andrew Mangiapane would both be okay with a move if the right situation is found.

Mangiapane has a year left at $3.6 million. He’s been good defensively, but the offense hasn’t been there. He’s a movable player, and the contract is movable. It’s a similar situation to when the Oilers traded Viktor Arvidsson to the Bruins, who had a year left at $4 million.

Believe that there’s an 80% chance that he’s traded, and could happen soon. Mangiapane does have a no-trade clause, so he has some control. The return likely won’t be much, and they shouldn’t have to add a sweetener.

The Minnesota Wild would move Ryan Hartman if they want to bring in another impact player

Kyle Morton of Daily Faceoff: David Pagnotta was on Daily Faceoff Live earlier in the week and said that the Minnesota Wild could look to move forward Ryan Hartman. The Wild could be looking for another top-six forward. Finding a center could be on their wishlist after they traded Marco Rossi in the Quinn Hughes trade.

“They’re going to have to be creative. They’re shopping and have been kind of dangling Ryan Hartman. He’s been out there as a guy to potentially move. He’s got a limited no-trade, I think it’s around 10 games. He’s a guy they’ve been kind of dangling a little bit in terms of moving out money, because they’re going to have to move out money to bring someone in if they want an impact guy.”
