NHL Sunday bets: Games to target for goals

It's Super Bowl Sunday, and we have plenty of NFL betting angles for you to take a look at right here on Yardbarker.

Before we get to Rams-Bengals, we have NHL to bet on. While there's only four games today, there are still a few good targets for goals.
Here are my two favorite spots to see scoring. Let's get right after a 1-2 day Saturday.

Pittsburgh Penguins

The Penguins have been piling on goals wherever they are. On the road, their 3.5 goals per game average in their last ten is the sixth-best mark in the NHL. That average goes up to 3.6 in the past five.

On the other end is a New Jersey Devils team letting in goals aplenty. The Devils are averaging 4.6 goals allowed in their last five home games, which is the third-highest number in the league.

I expect Pittsburgh to be firing at will against New Jersey and to put a few in the net. A great game for points and goals.

Best Bet: PIT Over 3.5 total goals, excluding OT (-115 DK)

Favorite Goal-Scorer: Sidney Crosby

This is a great spot for scoring, and while Crosby has excellent road trends, this is certainly narrative-fueled.

Crosby is going for goal #500, set to become the 46th NHL player to reach the mark.

It's as good a game as any to get there. Crosby has been rocking on the road lately. He has 5 goals in his last four away games, and is averaging 4.8 shots on goal per game in his last five.

With high-usage, a soft target, and history to make, I like Crosby on Sunday.

Goal odds: +180 (FD)

Colorado Avalanche

No team is scoring more on the road than Colorado. They're averaging 4.6 goals per game in their last ten and 4.2 in their last five, both top of the chart.

They'll get Dallas in the best game of the day. The Stars have been leaking in goals at home lately, allowing 3.4 in their past ten, which is tenth-most in the league.

There's also power play advantages on both ends tonight, which gives us that extra layer of comfort for goal-scoring opportunities.

Best Bet: COL Over 3.5 goals, including OT (+100 DK)

Favorite Goal-Scorer: Nazem Kadri

Colorado is so loaded, and everyone has been scoring so frequently, that it can be hard to differentiate someone performing at a higher level than the rest.

I like Kadri, who has four goals in his last six games and 3 goals in his last four on the road.

Goal odds: +200 (DK)

Closing Thoughts

Only two games today make the cut for team totals, so treat that as a jumping off point for any parlays or picks.

Some point parlays from various skaters on these teams, or a few goal scorers, is always worth consideration.

I've parlayed my two favorites to score at modest +700 odds on FanDuel.

Enjoy the afternoon hockey!
