NHL Sunday bets: Targeting shots, points and assists props

Saturday was a fantastic one if you followed along, with our plays going 9-3. We look to keep that momentum rolling to wrap the week in the NHL.

There are seven games Sunday and just a few spots that stick out to me.

Let's get to the Shots on Goal (SOG) plays, along with a few looks at points and assists.

Sidney Crosby over 2.5 SOG (-125 DK)

The first play of the day is in Pittsburgh. Nashville is allowing 33.8 shots per game in their last ten on the road, a number that jumps to 35.6 in their past five.

The Predators are allowing the 12th-most shots per game to centers since March 1, and they average the second-most penalties per game in their last ten.

It's for those two reasons we roll with Crosby, the top-line center for the Penguins.

Crosby is second on the team in power play shots (17) in the last 20 games, and has gone over this 2.5 line in eight of his past 12 games. Crosby has had nice success against Nashville, hitting his shots prop in six of his past eight meetings.

All of this above logic also applies to Evgeni Malkin, who is also at -125. But he has missed in four straight, which makes me take pause.

Parlay: Bryan Rust and Brayden Point over 0.5 points (+115 CZR)

My two favorite spots for goals today are with Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay. The Penguins are averaging 5.0 goals per game in their last five home games while Nashville is allowing 4.2 goals per game on the road in the same stretch of games.

Tampa is scoring a fine 3.2 goals per game at home lately, but it's Buffalo's 4.2 goals allowed average in their last five road games that makes this a target.

Rolling with Rust, who has 12 points in his last nine home games, and Point, who has a point in 75% of home games this season.

It has come to my attention that Caesars has consistently had better odds for points parlays. This same play is +108 on DK and FD.

.5u: Jared Spurgeon assist (+144 FD)

I think Minnesota is in a good spot for goals Sunday as well. It's nothing crazy, but the Wild's last five home games have yielded a 3.2 goals per game average, while the Kings past five on the road has resulted in 3.4 goals allowed per contest.

To me, that suggests three Wild goals, which may sound like simple analysis, but simplicity has been our friend recently.

I'm quite intrigued in Jared Spurgeon here. The defensemen has an assist in six straight games, and these odds are awesome for a guy with that type of recent production.

I'll place just a half-unit on this, as I haven't typically done assists bets.

Josh Morrissey over 2.5 SOG (+120 DK)

We're going right back to our old friend Josh Morrissey, who continues to roll with his shots.

Morrissey has now covered his SOG in 13 of his last 17 games, including seven of his past nine on the road.

The attempts are high, averaging 7.0 in his past five, and he gets a good target to keep rolling today in the Ottawa Senators. Ottawa is allowing 33.4 shots per game at home in their last ten (36.6 past five), and have typically been generous to defensemen shots.

Why this is plus-money is beyond me, but I'll take it, thanks.

For now, that is it for me. Best of luck today in the NHL, let's cash some more bets!
