NHL Wednesday bets: More shots on goal props

Tuesday was a tremendous day of NHL prop betting if you came here to Yardbarker for your picks, going 4-1 on our Shots on Goal (SOG) props.

We look to keep the momentum rolling with a fresh day of hockey and a good-looking slate of targets.

Jacob Trouba over 2.5 SOG (+130 DK)

Trouba was an awesome cash Tuesday night at +140, hitting his SOG in the first period.

The amazing thing is this is not an emotional or recency bias pick, the situation again behooves a bet on Trouba.

Trouba has now covered his SOG in three straight games, with six-plus shot attempts in four straight.

His involvement in the offense has continued to rise, and now he gets a Detroit team that has allowed the fifth-most shots per game to defensemen since the All Star break.

There should be plenty to go around for the Rangers, as the Red Wings allow 33.3 shots per game in their past ten at home.

Give me Trouba two nights in a row at fantastic odds.

Tyler Bertuzzi over 2.5 SOG (+100 DK)

Tyler Bertuzzi is absolutely rolling, and the books continue to serve him up at even-odds or better.

The Rangers should not scare you as a shots target, they are allowing 32.6 shots per game on the road in their last 10, a number that stays steady in their past five.

Bertuzzi has covered his SOG in four straight games and is averaging 7.75 shot attempts per game in this span.

He also had five SOG when these teams last met.

Logan Couture over 2.5 SOG (+110 DK)

Now, Couture is currently listed as day-to-day, but the expectation is that he will play, and at +110 against Arizona, this value is too good to pass up.

When scanning the Sharks lineup, Couture has been by far the steadiest shot producer (outside of Timo Meier, who is at 3.5 and -165).

Couture has covered his SOG in seven of his last eight games and nine of his past 13 on the road.

Arizona is getting pummeled with shots. At home, they are allowing 39.8 per game in their last 10 and a monstrous 43 per game in their past five.

They're quite generous to all positions, but centers are one they are more vulnerable to, allowing the third-most shots per game since the All Star break.

If Couture doesn't play, this will void, but the early indications are he will play Wednesday.

Nick Schmaltz over 2.5 SOG (+135 DK)

Sticking with this game, I love the value here on Nick Schmaltz.

San Jose has allowed 34.2 shots per game on the road in their last ten games, making them a very viable target Wednesday.

Schmaltz has really picked it up on the Coyotes top line, hitting his SOG in three of his last four games.

In this stretch, he's led Arizona players with 19 shot attempts, and I like following the volume.

He's also been steady at home, covering this prop in four of his past six.

I just think the odds, this opponent, and his reliable involvement on the offensive end makes this a bet worth making.

Best of luck Wednesday night in the NHL, let's keep cashing some SOG bets!
