NHL's Utah Franchise Officially Reveals Permanent Name and Logo

While it's been heavily hinted at, the Utah Hockey Club is no more, as the team have officially revealed themselves as the Utah Mammoth.

For their first season in the NHL, the newest Salt Lake City NHL franchise simply went by Utah Hockey Club, and while that was an option for their permanent team name, it apparently wasn't the favourite.

After a recent slip-up on social media, it was all but confirmed that the Utah Mammoth would be their name moving forward, and on Wednesday, the organization officially made the announcement, revealing their logo and jersey setup as well.

While some may not love the logo, it's a very unique one, incorporating the mountains of Utah and the Mammoth perfectly, and after the simple Utah was on both of their jerseys this past season, it's definitely an upgrade.

After the announcement, owner Ryan Smith made this statement on the team and their direction moving forward:

"We couldn't be more excited to launch the official name and marks for Utah's NHL hockey team. When it came to naming the team, we did something unprecedented - going through four rounds of community voting, including getting feedback not only on potential names but also on potential logos. We love the passion of the people of Utah and the way they showed up for the team during its inaugural season and the energy they brought to voting on its permanent identity. From day one, we committed that this team would be built with and for the people of Utah, and we are excited to celebrate today's launch with the entire state. The community chose the Utah Mammoth, and it stands as a symbol of who we are, where we came from, and the unstoppable force we're building together."

While some may have favoured Outlaws and others may have wanted to keep the name Utah Hockey Club, it's hard to deny that this logo with the colour set up is very unique, and moving forward, it should be a great look and a great identity for the team.
