The New York Rangers have some big moves to make this off-season, and now it appears as though two young forwards could be the targets of offer sheets.
This past season didn't go the way the New York Rangers would have hoped, and as a result, it appears that plenty of changes are on the way for the organization this off-season.
That started early, as the team moved on from Peter Laviolette before hiring former Penguins bench boss Mike Sullivan, and now, all signs point to some major changes with the roster as well.
Those changes are likely to involve Chris Kreider, Mika Zibanejad and even potentially Artemi Panarin, but now, Larry Brooks of the New York Post has stated that the team could be victims of an offer sheet or two as well.
"Rempe will also become the Blueshirts' biggest offer sheet target when he hits Group II free agency on July 1Will Cuylle is also moving into that vulnerable territory"
According to Brooks, two young forwards in Matt Rempe and Will Cuylle are both vulnerable to offer sheets, and given the impact that either one could make for a team at a relatively cheap price, it certainly makes sense for rival teams to look at.
Neither have shown star power as of yet, but they've both been solid contributors in New York in their short time in very different ways, and while the team would likely love to keep both, the vulnerability will be something to keep an eye on heading into the summer.
This will leave General Manager Chris Drury with some massive decisions to make if Brooks' prediction does indeed come to pass, but with the team looking to make some changes with salary cap space and some intriguing draft picks, there will certainly be ways for this team to upgrade the roster moving forward.
