The Edmonton Oilers host the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday at Rogers Place.
Edmonton enters the matchup playing strong hockey and leading the Pacific Division. The Oilers continue to lean on elite scoring and special teams to drive results.
Before the game, Edmonton confirmed a key update on goaltender Tristan Jarry. Jarry suffered a lower-body injury during the second period of a Dec. 18 win over the Boston Bruins. The injury forced him out of the game and landed him on injured reserve. It came during his third appearance since arriving via trade from the Pittsburgh Penguins on Dec. 12.
Head coach Kris Knoblauch said Jarry will return around "mid-January … but not before that," via Oilers TV host Tony Brar on X.

The Oilers have turned to Calvin Pickard as their starting goalie since Jarry's injury. Pickard has delivered mixed results but earned a key 3-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets on Monday. With Jarry sidelined, Connor Ingram was recalled from Bakersfield of the AHL to add depth.
Edmonton sits at 20-15-6 and first in the Pacific Division. The Oilers average 3.34 goals per game and own the league’s top power play. Connor McDavid directs the attack and is tied for the NHL lead with 70 points (24 goals, 46 assists). He remains the main matchup problem.
Goaltending remains a concern despite the team’s success. Edmonton allows 3.32 goals per game and owns a combined .885 save percentage. That puts added pressure on the offense to stay sharp.
The Oilers recently saw their momentum slowed in a 6-2 loss to Boston (second game after the Jarry injury). So, Edmonton will look to clean up details while awaiting Jarry’s return.
The Oilers and Flyers meet at 3:30 p.m. ET Saturday.
