The Edmonton Oilers still need some changes in net, and recent suggestions have once again circled back to Penguins veteran Tristan Jarry.
The past two seasons have been a case of so close, yet so far, with the team falling in seven and six games to the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Finals, with the team simply falling short at the final hurdle.
There are many reasons for that, and one of the big ones has been goaltending, although the team appear set to run back the tandem of Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard next season regardless.
As a result, Oilers fans continue to call out for change, and according to Penguins insider Josh Yohe, a return to Edmonton might just do the trick to help the talented veteran get back to his very best.
I think Tristan just screams out as a guy who needs a change of scenery.Boy, he has talent. And I think if he just had new surroundings, that might be the best thing for him.
While Jarry has spent his entire NHL career in Pittsburgh, the BC native spent four years in Edmonton with the WHL's Oil Kings.
That change could mean a return to Edmonton.Back in 2013-14, Jarry backstopped the WHL's Edmonton Oil Kings to a championship, posting a 44-14-2 regular-season record before leading the team to the Memorial Cup. It was the last WHL club to capture the trophy, and Jarry was at the heart of it.
While he wasn't at his best this past season, when he is at his best, he's capable of putting up big numbers, with a career 3.00 GAA in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
It would be a risk for Edmonton, but the belief is that he can turn things around with a change of scenery, and if the team want to make a change without giving up all their future assets, this may be the move to make.
