Oilers' Corey Perry Ties Old-Man NHL Record in Game 4 Win vs. Stars

The Edmonton Oilers took a 3-1 lead in the Western Conference final after a 4-1 win over the Dallas Stars in Game 4 on Tuesday.

Edmonton overcame the loss of Zach Hyman to injury early in the first period and secured its third straight win in the series.

Hyman exited after a hit from Mason Marchment. He dropped his stick and immediately skated off, favoring his right arm.

The Oilers forward, who leads all playoff skaters in hits, had logged just over three minutes before leaving. He did not return but was seen with teammates after the game.

That didn't stop veteran Corey Perry from lifting the Oilers to another victory, as Perry delivered the game-winning goal on the power play in the second period, shortly after Dallas tied the game.

Perry redirected a pass from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins to restore Edmonton’s lead.

"That would be huge [going back to the Cup Final]," Perry said after the game. "I thought we got better as the game went on."

Perry’s goal was his sixth of the playoffs. He is now tied for the most goals in a single postseason by a player who began that run at age 39 or older.

Perry joined Jean Beliveau, Ron Francis, Mark Recchi, and Teemu Selanne among those in that exclusive group.

Leon Draisaitl and Nugent-Hopkins had two points each for the Oilers in Game 4 as the latter extended his point streak to four games.

Game 5 is set for Thursday in Dallas, where the Oilers can clinch their second consecutive Stanley Cup Final appearance with another victory.
