Monday night’s Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final spiraled out of control as the Edmonton Oilers racked up 85 penalty minutes in a 6–1 blowout loss to the Florida Panthers.
The penalty count ballooned to 140 combined minutes between both teams, making it one of the most penalized games in modern Finals history.
The Oilers were whistled for 21 penalties, including 16 in the third period alone, while Florida racked up 55 penalty minutes on 14 penalty calls.
But for Oilers forward Evander Kane, the real issue wasn’t just discipline—it was the officiating itself swinging the game in one direction.
"We didn't play very well, we have nobody to blame but ourselves. We can definitely be a lot better."

Kane made it clear he felt the calls weren’t consistent.
“You look at some of their calls and whatnot — obviously some of them are frustrating,” Kane said. “They seem to get away with it more than we do. It's tough to find the line. They're doing just as much stuff as we are.
“There seems to be a little bit more attention on our group.”
Kane was among those penalized heavily, ultimately getting ejected from Game 3 during a heated third period after slashing a downed Panthers' Carter Verhaeghe.
Kane also picked up two minors in the opening eight minutes of the game.
The Oilers’ penalty troubles began early, with four infractions in the opening frame — including three in the offensive zone and a too-many-men penalty.
Game 4 is Thursday night in Sunrise, FL, with Edmonton trailing 2–1 in the series and aiming at tying the finals before they shift back to Canada for Game 5.
