Edmonton Oilers insider Bob Stauffer revealed the team could be planning a major shakeup on the blue line for Game 4 vs. the Florida Panthers.

Edmonton Oilers insider Bob Stauffer has fueled the speculation on whether there will be a blue line makeover before Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Florida Panthers.

On a recent episode of 'Oilers Now', Stauffer just couldn't stop going back to the idea of swapping out offensive defenceman John Klingberg for the more defensively-minded Troy Stecher, when Game 4 gets underway Thursday night.

'Do I expect a change on the defense for Game 4? Yes,' Stauffer said, without specifying what exactly that change would be.

Stauffer continued: 'I do think there's a possibility Stetcher plays just because, frankly, he kills it in the playoffs He's committed to everything that he does. He's hard, firm, direct. And that's how Florida plays. So we'll see whether or not the Oilers make the change.'

And: 'Troy Stetcher in 27 career playoff games is +16. He's +3 in six games for the Oilers in the playoffs this year. The opposition has not scored an even strength goal when he's on the ice. Maybe he's been lucky. He could even kill penalties.'

At other times in his show he said, 'I can see Troy Stetcher coming in potentially for John Klingberg. Stecher does tend to settle down Darnell Nurse.'

The choice would come as no surprise. Klingberg has fought tooth and nail the past two weeks and has played on five of the eight even-strength goals the Panthers have scored in the series.

Stecher , meanwhile, has served as a steady presence in limited playoff play, particularly when paired with Darnell Nurse.

Jeff Skinner could also make an appearance back in the lineup

Stauffer also spoke of the possibility of Jeff Skinner jumping into the lineup, reasoning that the veteran winger could help jump-start Edmonton's forwards.

With so many wingers banged up and skating below expectations, with currently Connor Brown and Trent Frederic setting the pace, Skinner's playmaking ability would be a much-needed boost.

Guest and retired NHL player Rob Brown seemed in favor of Stecher's return, praising the defenseman for his consistent play and ability to quiet the back end.
